Mosquitoes of several species cause the deaths of millions of people annually, making them the major disease vectors. Bioinsecticide formulations derived from Bacillus thuringiensis are widely acknowledged as highly efficient, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and safe means of controlling insect pests. In this study, a strain of B. thuringiensis exhibiting significant efficacy in controlling Aedes aegypti was isolated from the local environment, identified, and physiologically characterized. The isolated B. thuringiensis strain exhibited positive insecticidal activity against the larvae and adult Aedes aegypti, causing mortality of the insect larvae at a rate of 3.33% and adult at 53.33 – 93.33% in 48 hours. Experiments conducted in a controlled laboratory setting showed that B. thuringiensis toxin exhibited higher levels of activity against the adult mosquito than the larvae. This study demonstrates that bioinsecticide formulation using B. thuringiensis as the active agent has the potential to effectively and sustainably manage larvae and adult Aedes aegypti.

The research aimed to determine the relationship between the influence of home routines on the self-help skills of Albuera North Central Elementary School, Division of Leyte's kindergarten learners during the school year 2022-2023. A descriptive-correlational research design was used. The parent-respondents who answered the adapted questionnaire were selected through simple random sampling to gather data about the frequency level of kindergarten learners' performance in home routines and the level of development of self-help skills. The gathered data were treated statistically using frequency count, simple percentage, weighted mean, and Pearson’s r. Results revealed that most of the learners are 5 years old, whose parents are high school level, with 3 to 4 siblings, and have a monthly income of Php 10,000 and below. Moreover, the learners often perform the home routines before going to school and always perform the routinary tasks after school. Furthermore, the learners have developed self-help skills. It was also found that there was no significant relationship between the influence of home routines and the self-help skills of kindergarten learners. Hence, the home routines cannot influence the self-help skills of the learners. It is recommended that the Enhancement Plan be implemented to help the parents deal with their learners' self-help skills development.

The worldwide health crisis has caused numerous alterations and transformations in the field of education. These profound shifts took place not only in the Philippines but also in other global education sectors and institutions. This study delved into parents' experiences teaching their children with hearing impairment amidst the pandemic using a modular printed platform in the Division of Danao City, Danao City, Cebu, in the school year 2020-2021. A qualitative phenomenological design was employed, involving the qualitative analysis and assessment of themes derived from semi-structured interviews, observation, and exploring the parents’ lived experiences to gather data on parents’ challenges and problems in teaching children with HI during the pandemic. The findings revealed several circumstantial actions. These experiences were perceived and formed (collaboration and interactions, direct instruction and tutorship, and communication), highlighting the need for a joint approach between parents and educators. Evidence of personal struggles (involvement to instructions, skills in motivating and adapting), academic deficits and incapacity (education, skills, and training), and financial struggles (finances for gadgets, technology, internet connectivity, and family) were also evident. Hence, the new learning modality and the use of modules have contributed to parents’ hardships in teaching all the subjects. Parental education, incapacity to decode the content, teaching, and busy schedules were also evident factors of challenges or problems parents encountered with their students during the pandemic. This study has proposed recommendations to help the participants and educators improve their ways of providing instructions or interventions.
